Programs of Study - Phlebotomy Technician
The Phlebotomist Technician (pronunciation: fli-'bä-tä-mE ) is the person responsible for drawing blood as instructed by a physician or other health care professional. Most patients have their blood drawn at medical examinations or during hospital stays. The phlebotomist performs venipuncture on patients, transports blood specimens, maintains and cleans venipuncture trays, and may perform simple urinalysis tests, not to include microscopic examinations.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the ASCP national exam for Phlebotomy Technician; licensure as a Health Care Assistant Category "A" in Washington state and employment.
